Growing up with a deep love for home décor, Peter Mauno always believed a home should tell a story — your story, your roots, your culture. But when he looked around, he found something missing. Most stores were filled with generic pieces, and the rich world of authentic African craft was invisible.
That gap became his calling. In 2023, Peter founded Maunos Decor with a clear mission: to give authentic African art a platform it deserves — and give the people behind it a sustainable livelihood.
What started as a curated selection of handpicked pieces has grown into something far larger. We're opening our platform to talented artisans across Kenya and East Africa, turning Maunos into a community-driven marketplace for handmade African craft.

Pride Inn Hotels — one of Kenya's leading hotel chains — came to Maunos Decor looking for something their guests wouldn't find anywhere else. Something that felt like Kenya. Something handcrafted, warm, and memorable.
They chose two pieces. First: our handwoven sisal snack baskets — placed in every guest room, filled with welcome treats. Every check-in, every guest, greeted by Kenyan craft. Not a generic plastic tray. A basket made by hand, carrying a story.
Second: our hand-turned African wood wine glass toppers — a uniquely Kenyan touch for their bar and in-room dining. Olive wood, shaped by artisan hands in Nairobi, sitting elegantly on stemware that would otherwise look like any hotel glass in the world.
